Brian Sweeney

FOUNDER

Brian founded Sweeney Research in 1972.

Brian's expertise is in the qualitative research area where over the years he has conducted in excess of 8000 group discussions with a specific focus on advertising research.

Brian has been a judge of the biannual Advertising Effectiveness Awards in 1991, 1993, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003. In 1994 Brian was nominated as co-chairman of the organising committee for the annual market research society functions. In 1997, Brian was voted by his peers as BRW magazine Australia's Best Market Researcher.

Adeline Ong PhD

SENIOR RESEARCH CONSULTANT

Adeline joined Sweeney Research in 2007 and has more than seven years of research and consulting experience.

Through her past consultative experience, Adeline has conducted research across a number of industries and is familiar with tackling both strategic and practical challenges across a broad range of categories. She is currently the Head of Education at Sweeney Research but is also heavily involved across other areas, including government, social, community consultation, and stakeholder research.

Adeline completed her Honours degree in marketing at Monash University and a PhD in consumer behaviour at RMIT University. She has presented and published her work at leading academic journals and conferences, both locally and internationally. She has also submitted joint paper submissions in collaboration with clients.

As a full QPMR member with the Australian Market & Social Research Society, Adeline’s research experience covers both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. She has a particular interest in behavioural economics and its impact on decision making and behaviour.

Amma Owusu

RESEARCH CONSULTANT

Amma started at Sweeney Research in 2008 as a casual while completing a Bachelor of Applied Science (Computer Science) Degree at RMIT. In 2009, Amma became a Team Leader in our call centre and also gained experience working in our Coding and Data Entry departments. During 2009 Amma also completed a Masters in Business IT at RMIT. Amma became a Graduate Research Consultant in 2010 and was promoted to Research Consultant in 2011. Amma is currently concentrating on quantitative research techniques.

Anne-Marie Baker

CONSULTANT

Anne-Marie completed a Bachelor of Business in Marketing and Applied Economics from Deakin University in 1991. She began her career in market research as one of the first MRSA trainees in 1993, working for The Key Response, a small qualitative-specialist consultancy based in Melbourne.

Anne-Marie was mentored in qualitative techniques by Alison Fraser, of The Key Response, an ex-planner at J Walter Thompson and Director of MBL, London. Over her five years there she learned all aspects of qualitative research, strategy planning and consumer behaviour.

She joined Sweeney Research in 2000, as a Senior Research Consultant, specialising in qualitative research where she worked on successful pitches for Sussans and Goodyear. In late 2001 Anne-Marie moved to the UK where she continued working in qualitative research, working for Frontline Research for clients such as Cadbury's, Cussons and Robinsons. After having two children, Anne-Marie returned to Sweeneys in 2007 as a Senior Consultant.

She works across a range of business-to-consumer; business-to-business and social research and has a particular interest in communications strategies.

Charlie Coulton

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

Charlie joined Sweeney in mid-2010 and has over seven years’ experience in the marketing space as an analyst, researcher and strategic planner specialising in communications development and evaluation.

Skilled in both qualitative and quantitative disciplines, he completed a BComm/BSci at the University of Melbourne majoring in Biotechnology and the History and Philosophy of Science and covering everything from marketing through to econometrics and finance as part of a generalist commerce degree.

Currently nearing completion of a MSc, he brings a deep understanding of the scientific method to all his research projects, but is inspired by leveraging insight to find powerful creative solutions to business problems.

He has well developed skillsets across qualitative insight and opportunity identification, brand and advertising development as well as quantitative evaluation of campaign effectiveness and ROI using a variety of techniques including econometric and financial models. He has worked across a range of industries and sectors including fmcg, banking, finance, insurance, telecommunications, automotive, consumer electronics, local, state and federal government departments as well not-for profit.

Courtney Leo

SENIOR RESEARCH CONSULTANT

Courtney joined Sweeney Research as Senior Qualitative Consultant within Sweeney’s Sydney research team in February 2010.

Upon completion of a Social Science Degree at Macquarie University in 1999, Courtney began her career at ANOP Research Services in Sydney where she gained experience in both qualitative and quantitative research and worked for clients such as Qantas and Fairfax. In 2003, she moved to the UK and joined IFF Research in London where she conducted a range of qualitative and quantitative studies primarily across the public and financial services sectors. At the start of 2006, Courtney became a qualitative specialist at SPA Research in London, working across the FMCG sector and from 2007 to 2010; Courtney was a part of the consumer qualitative team at TNS Research International UK (legacy Research International) working across a broad range of clients and sectors.

Courtney has particular experience in the areas of shopper research, customer segmentation and profiling, concept testing, NPD, category development, brand equity, customer satisfaction and loyalty, packaging evaluation and design and communications testing.

Over the course of her career Courtney has worked across the Financial, FMCG, Retail, Public Sector, Travel, Food Manufacturing, Tobacco, Automotive and Telecommunications sector using a large range of methodologies.

David Barmer

EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN

David was appointed as Executive Chairman of Sweeney Research in 2005.

David commenced his market research career with British Leyland in the UK in the mid ‘70s and after moving to Australia became Market Research Manager for Ford Australia in 1979.

In February 1981, David joined Reark Research as a Project Director and in 1984 set up and became General Manager of ARMS: Automotive Research and Marketing Services - a separate operating division of Reark Research.

David joined Sweeney Research in January 1986, as a Director of the company with primary responsibility for quantitative research. He is particularly experienced in the design and implementation of large scale tracking research projects.

David is a full member of the AMSRS and is a Qualified Practicing Market Researcher (QPMR).

Emily McKendry

RESEARCH CONSULTANT

Emily graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne in June 2009. Throughout her course, she focused on consumer behaviour and marketing strategy, which lead to her interest in market research. Emily joined Sweeney Research in a qualitative research role in 2010.

Since this time, Emily has been involved in a broad array of projects across many different industry sectors including government, FMCG, finance and telecommunications.

Erik Heller

MANAGING DIRECTOR - SYDNEY

Erik joined Sweeney Research in 2005 and was appointed Managing Director of Sydney in 2011.

With over 10 years consulting experience in research and related fields, Erik specialises in brand and communication strategy, market segmentation, customer satisfaction/loyalty, market/choice modelling and pricing research.

Prior to Sweeney's, Erik was at Numbers International and has also worked in advertising in Australia and Europe and on the client side at the Wella headquarters.

Erik holds a Bachelor of Economics, with first class honours in Marketing, from the University of Sydney. He is a Qualified Practicing Market Researcher (QPMR) and previously received the Tony Wheeler Best Paper Award at the national conference of the AMSRS for a paper on online research.

Erik has significant experience in many industries including Retail, FMCG, Telecommunications, IT, Financial Services & Insurance, Healthcare & Pharmaceutical and Manufacturing across consumer and B2B markets. Erik works closely with many of the business’s key clients and is involved at a strategic level in many of the core projects run by the business.

Finn Trembath

Finn joined Sweeney Research in 2000 and was appointed an Associate Director in 2012.

With over 14 years consulting experience in research and advertising, Finn specialises in quantitative research with experience across a wide range of sectors including healthcare, government, insurance, sporting, FMCG and arts/events. He also has extensive experience conducting qualitative in-depth interviews.

Prior to joining Sweeney Research, Finn was the General Manager of @vertising, a boutique advertising and market research agency based in Melbourne that serviced internet clients. Prior to this, Finn worked in London at the business-to-business market research company Kadence UK Ltd, where he acquired valuable hands-on experience as a telephone interviewer and qualitative recruiter. He also worked at the London based LINK Strategic Research, where he worked on various qualitative and quantitative projects for a range of European companies.

Finn holds a Bachelor of Business (Marketing/Hospitality) and an Associate Diploma of Business (Marketing/Japanese).

Hannah Stewart

SENIOR RESEARCH CONSULTANT

Hannah is a research consultant specialising in quantitative research.

She joined Sweeney Research in 2000 and gained experience in a variety of operational and analytical roles before becoming a Research Consultant in 2007.

Since this time, Hannah has managed a variety of projects from small ad-hoc studies to large scale tracking research programmes. She has worked with clients from a large range of sectors including insurance, FMCG, transport, technology, telecommunications, advertising and communications, the arts and government.

Hannah has significant quantitative research experience across study types such as consumer usage and attitudes, customer satisfaction, segmentation, entertainment and events, packaging and social research.

Jason Whatley

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Jason gained a Bachelor of Arts at Colgate University in the US. Jason commenced his professional career with Reuben H. Donnelly, an advertising company in the States.

Since joining Sweeney Research in September 1997, Jason has overseen the development of our CATI operations. With a strong background in statistics and computers, Jason is often involved in complex data analysis as well as electronic survey design.

Jason became Director of Operations in October 2003 and heads up SearchLight – our field and operations division.

Jennifer Hodges

Jennifer joined Sweeney’s in 2009 with a particular passion for Qualitative research and 12 years’ experience under her belt. With extensive experience in tackling both tactical and strategic challenges across brand, the full scope of NPD and communications Jennifer brings the perspective to challenge assumptions around consumer knowledge and translate consumer insight into meaningful and actionable business strategy.

Keeping engaged with the shifting consumer landscape is what keeps Jennifer constantly intrigued in the broad scope of categories that she has explored over the years – from Services; Finance, Telecommunications, Utilities, Transport to Durables; White goods, Automotive, FMCG and Alcohol.

Jennifer brings a solid foundation in classical qualitative techniques but also enjoys blending in new techniques borne from her experience in innovation and idea generation. Jennifer graduated with a Bachelor of Business Marketing (Honours 1st class) from Monash University – David Syme School of Business.

Jo Kirkhope

Jo joined Sweeney Research in 2006 where she worked primarily in quantitative research. In late 2006 she moved to the UK where she worked with a leading Marketing and Research Consultancy in Leeds. Her focus during her time in the UK was on both quant and qual research across a wide range of industries including retail, FMCG, finance and utilities. Upon returning to Australia in 2009, Jo has re-joined the Sweeney team and she is working with both our private and public sector clients in a dual qualitative and quantitative capacity.

Julie Stubley

Julie joined Sweeney Research in 2006 and was appointed an Associate Director in 2012. Prior to this, she worked at Environmetrics and as a tutor in Services Marketing at the University of Sydney.

Julie has over 6 years’ experience in research and related fields and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Liberal Studies) Honours degree from the University of Sydney where she majored in Marketing and Econometrics.

She conducts both consumer and business-to-business research across a range of industries including Pharmaceutical and Healthcare, Financial Services and Insurance, Telecommunications, Education, FMCG, Media and Retail.

Julie has significant experience in brand and communication strategy, customer satisfaction/loyalty research, pricing and market assessments, needs/typology based segmentations and NPD.

Lawrence Robinson

Lawrence joined Sweeney Research in April 1992, whilst completing a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Melbourne. In his years of employ here at Sweeney Research Lawrence has worked in a number of areas and with a range of clients.

As Associate Director of Operations, Lawrence manages the Data Processing team, and is also one of our key Data Analysts. He is also charged with developing and expanding our online surveying capabilities, as well as the design and implementation of our Quality Assurance policies.

Lawrence's wide ranging knowledge of the industry and skills in computing make him a valuable member of the Sweeney Research team.

Lewis Jones

MANAGING DIRECTOR - MELBOURNE

Lewis commenced his research career in 1991, with MORI, one of the leading market research agencies in the UK. In 1995, Lewis joined Business Development Research Consultants, primarily specialising in financial and leisure research.

Lewis moved to Australia in 1996 to join Sweeney Research. He is mainly involved in customer satisfaction, branding, advertising, product concept testing, pricing, packaging development and tracking research on behalf of a wide range of private and public sector organisations.

Lewis is the Managing Director for the Sweeney Research office in Melbourne and specialises in quantitative research.

Lisa Naphtali

Lisa joined Sweeney in April 2010. Lisa began her research career at Open Mind Research Group in 2004 and prior to that worked at a boutique marketing consultancy.

Specialising in qualitative research Lisa has worked across a range of organisations spanning FMCG, Banking and Finance, Media, Retail, State and Federal Government. She has extensive experience in communications development, communications evaluation, brand development and positioning, new product development and B2B research. Lisa finds people fascinating and enjoys making sense of their experiences and attitudes.

Lisa graduated from the University of Melbourne with a BA in History and diploma of Modern Languages in 2001.

Liz Kameen

Liz has over 10 years’ qualitative research experience in both the UK and Australia. Prior to joining Sweeney Research, she worked at both AMR Interactive and Blue Moon Research in Sydney. She holds a BA (Cantab) in Geography from Cambridge University.

Having worked with a wide range of clients in both the private and public sectors, Liz's experience cuts across a number of different categories, including FMCG, financial, pharmaceutical, telecommunications. She has also worked on a number of large-scale social research projects, often with harder-to-reach research audiences, including the elderly, teenagers and immigration asylum seekers.

Liz is passionate about ensuring the best approach is used for each project, and is experienced in running more creative workshop style sessions and in home immersions as well as the more standard qualitative methodologies. She is focused on providing clients with clear insights that tell the real story and bring consumers to life to guide successful communications, NPD and brand strategy.

Marc L'Huillier

Marc joined Sweeney Research in 1993. He moved to Sydney in 1995 and established our NSW office. After a decade of developing our operations and presence in Sydney, Marc was appointed CEO of Sweeney Research and moved back to Melbourne in 2005.

Marc has a passion for qualitative research and works with many of our major clients across the both the private and public sectors. In addition, Marc is a Director of Sweeney Sports and comes from a sporting background. He played in the 1999 Rugby Union World Cup Finals, representing the US Rugby Union team.

Natalie Levy

SENIOR RESEARCH CONSULTANT

Natalie joined Sweeney Research in 2010. Natalie works predominantly within the Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Research area.

Originally from the UK, she began her career at GfK-NOP (formerly GfK Martin Hamblin) in the Consumer Brand Development team, before moving to Synovate Healthcare (International Team) where she worked for major clients across the European pharmaceutical market.

Natalie moved to Australia in 2008 gaining experience within the Australian market at Ipsos.

Natalie has a wealth of experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research with GPs, specialists and KOLs, with a particular emphasis on qualitative research. Therapy areas include cardiovascular, diabetes, respiratory, nephrology, neurology, anaesthetics, psychiatry and oncology.

A full member of the AMSRS, she also holds a certificate in Market Research and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology.

Paula Sweeney

RECRUITMENT MANAGER

Paula began her career at Sweeney Research in April 2001 starting as an interviewer then moving on to a supervisor's role the following year.

Paula took over the Recruitment Manager's position in August 2006.

Paula is responsible for managing qualitative recruitment for focus groups, in-depth interviews and quantitative clinic studies on behalf of researchers in our Melbourne and Sydney offices.

Peter Hennessy

SENIOR ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE

Peter joined Sweeney Research in 1990 after a career of over 20 years in the food industry where we worked in marketing and general management roles.

He works on both qualitative and quantitative research, with a greater focus on the former and has worked with a wide range of clients across an extensive number of sectors - FMCG, Government, advertising, finance, retail and road safety to name but a few.

In 2006, Peter won the Australian Market and Social Research Society’s inaugural Research Effectiveness Award for this submission Everybody Hurts detailing our (at that stage) 17 year history of work for Victoria’s Transport Accident Commission (the TAC).

He currently manages Sweeney’s work on two significant Victorian government accounts – the TAC, where his involvement began in 1990, and WorkSafe with which he has been involved since 2005.

Peter has an Economics degree and a Graduate degree in Marketing.

Rebecca Lowery

Rebecca joined Sweeney Research in 2008, working primarily as a quantitative researcher.

She has extensive experience in customer satisfaction, packaging development, pricing, new product development and sensory research. Rebecca has also worked across a range of sectors including FMCG, Pharmaceutical, Retail and Government.

Prior to joining Sweeney, Rebecca worked as an Account Manager at Colmar Brunton Research and a Research Manager at Consumer Affairs Victoria. She graduated from RMIT University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Consumer Science).

Stuart Attwood

Stuart joined Sweeney Research in 2009 as a Senior Quantitative Research Consultant.

With eight years of experience in market and social research, Stuart specialises in brand and advertising evaluation and communication strategy, product development, service/policy evaluation and customer/employee satisfaction.

Stuart began his research career in the UK where he worked as a Research Consultant and a Senior Social and Market Research Consultant for two large management consultancy firms.

Stuart holds a First Class BA Honours Degree in Business and Marketing and also a Post Graduate Diploma in Social and Market Research Practice. He is also a Qualified Practicing Market Research (QPMR) and Full Member of the Australian Market and Social Research Society (AMSRS).

Stuart has experience managing numerous tracking and ad-hoc social and market research projects across a range of industries including finance, FMCG, Government, transport, retail, technology, health and environmental in both public and private sector organisations.

Cara Moynes

RESEARCH CONSULTANT

Cara joined Sweeney as graduate researcher in 2012, working primarily in a quantitative research role.

Cara's interest in market research was ignited during her studies in consumer science (Bachelor of Science) at RMIT University, where she followed a marketing stream with particular focus on consumer research behaviour and statistics.

Whilst completing her degree, Cara gained experience in customer service and relations within the utilities industry as a member of the Singapore power group.

Jacquie Norton

Jacquie joined Sweeney Research in 2010 as a Research Consultant, working predominantly in the quantitative area. In her five years of consulting experience, she has gained a breadth of experience in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies covering communications evaluation, usage and attitude studies, new product development, customer satisfaction, segmentation studies, branding studies, stakeholder/program evaluations, and tracking studies.

Prior to joining Sweeney Research, Jacquie worked at Instinct and Reason where her role predominantly involved the management of ad-hoc public sector projects across various Government departments (both State and Federal) and several tracking studies for major players in the Financial Services industry. She also collaborated on research publications for the National Heart Foundation and the Australia Council for the Arts.

Since joining Sweeney Research Jacquie has broadened her experience to include FMCG, working extensively across several large-scale strategic projects.

Jacquie holds an Advanced Dual Diploma of Business (Advertising & Marketing) and a Bachelor of Behavioural Science majoring in psychology and sociology.

Ashwin Singh

Ashwin joined Sweeney Research in 2010 after four years at Eureka Strategic Research and IPSOS. In his time in the industry, Ashwin built up a wealth of experience in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies across a wide variety of clients, from the private sector in the finance, insurance and telecommunications industries, to the public sector with Government departments in the areas of health and environment.

Ashwin holds a Bachelor of Science/Commerce and a Graduate Diploma in Science (Developmental Psychology) from the University of Sydney. Ashwin now focuses primarily on quantitative research across a range of industries and specialises in advanced quantitative techniques, such as market segmentations, factor analysis, driver analysis, pricing and the predictive modeling of demand.

Kate Clark

SENIOR RESEARCH CONSULTANT

Kate joined Sweeney Research in 2011 as a Senior Research Consultant specialising in quantitative research. She has over 7 years of experience in South Africa and Australia.

Prior to joining Sweeney Research, Kate was at TNS where she worked across a variety of client sectors. While her main focus was in the FMCG and fast food industries, she also has significant experience in the automotive, government and financial sectors.

Kate has strong expertise across a multitude of methodologies and enjoys developing customised approaches for her clients’ needs. Her particular strengths lie in the areas of brand health and strategy, new product development, concept and product testing, pricing and segmentation studies.

Kate holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Stellenbosch University in South Africa.

Genevieve Marett

RESEARCH CONSULTANT

Genevieve has joined Sweeney in 2011, working primarily in a quantitative research role. Genevieve holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Monash University where she focused on marketing and learned an appreciation for statistics, leading to an interest in market research.

Prior to this position at Sweeney Research, Genevieve was chiefly involved in business development for AIESEC whilst completing her Commerce degree, gaining insight into a wide range of industries both in Australia and Singapore.

Genevieve works extensively across our sports and entertainment clients, including Cricket Australia, MCC, Etihad Stadium and Crown. In addition, she project manages the Sweeney Sports Report and Sweeney Olympic Report programmes.

David Armstrong

HEAD OF CORPORATE RESEARCH

David gained his M.A in Marketing from Lancaster University in the UK and his early experience upon graduation was in marketing roles with Kodak and Scott Paper. His career evolved into Business Strategy in Asia, US and Europe with a focus on consumer packaging.

David became General Manager of various packaging businesses within ACI, BTR and Amcor and more recently held the position of Managing Director of Officemax in Australia and New Zealand for 4 years.

David joined Sweeney Research in 2011 as head of Sweeney Corporate research. In this role, his focus is supporting Senior Corporate Affairs executives with vital stakeholder research to enable decision making to be made with confidence.

Jessica Stapleton

RESEARCH CONSULTANT

Jessica joined the team in Sydney during 2011 as a qualitative researcher. Prior to joining Sweeney, she worked on developing brand strategy and creating new brands within a design consultancy. Her depth of experience is grounded in years of reporting and insights experience across the finance, media and food service sectors.

As a research consultant at Sweeney, Jessica is part of the FMCG team. Her focus is on developing bespoke solutions to develop products and services that people can truly connect with.

Jessica holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Finance and a Masters in Journalism and Communications from UNSW.

Chris Styring

GENERAL MANAGER – SWEENEY SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT

Christopher Styring has over 18 years of global sports & entertainment experience. He has in depth experience across marketing communications, sales, sponsorship & events as well as the brand & talent management fields.

In March of 2012 he joined Sweeney Research as General Manager of Sport & Entertainment after holding the previous position of Group Manager - Sponsorship, Events and Motorsport at Ford where he signed deals with global superstars such as Harry Kewell, Mick Fanning & Steph Gilmore for the brand as well as securing a major deal with Village Theme Parks.

Christopher has also worked at Tennis Australia as Head of Sponsorship & Business Development and the Richmond Football Club.

Prior to moving back to Australia, he was Head of Sponsorship Services for the WilliamsF1Team in the UK for a decade working with some of the world’s finest racing car drivers and world champions.

Over his professional journey he has worked with some of the globe’s best known brands such as BMW, Ford, Michelin, RBS, HP, Lacoste, Rolex & Rip Curl.

Most recently he produced a number of strategic reports for Taronga Zoo around their future commercial structure, Rip Curl & the Rip Curl Pro & the University of Canberra and their Rugby Union engagement.

Christopher has a Bachelor of Business Management (Marketing) from Monash University. He is a keen tennis player and ocean swimmer as well as collector of rare historical documents & books.

Bjoern Respondek

RESEARCH CONSULTANT

Bjoern joined Sweeney Research in 2012 after four and a half years at Ipsos in Germany and New Zealand. In his time there, he gained extensive experience in quantitative methodologies, including concept testing, forecasting, pricing, customer understanding, brand and advertisement research across a wide variety of industries, predominantly telecommunications, finance, insurance, public sector, power tools and household durables.

He holds a degree in economics majoring in statistics and public finance from the University of Mannheim, Germany.

Aditi Kane

RESEARCH CONSULTANT

Aditi joined Sweeney Research in 2012 as a Research Consultant with eight years of market research experience in Melbourne and the US.

She started her career in research at a Melbourne based research agency where she worked on quantitative and qualitative projects for telecommunications clients. She then went on to work at a national property consulting firm in their Consumer Research team working with property development clients. Her interests and expertise lie in quantitative research including consumer behaviour analysis and customer satisfaction research.

Aditi holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree, majoring in finance.

Mark joined Sweeney Research in 2012 as Research Consultant working across qualitative and quantitative projects.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Arts (European Studies) from Massey University and a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) Honours degree from RMIT.

Mark comes from a sporting background having played professional soccer in Europe and represented his country at an international level.

Prior to his role at Sweeney; Mark lived in Europe and was exposed to a broad range of industry sectors including Sport & Entertainment, FMCG and Building & Construction.

Duncan Moore

Duncan joined Sweeney Research in 2012 as a Graduate Research Consultant working primarily in a quantitative role. Duncan holds a degree in Commerce-Marketing at Macquarie University.

Duncan spent the final year of his studies undertaking an Honours program, where he conducted research into the marketisation of universities. Specifically he investigated the nature of the commercial relationship between student and higher education provider.

Prior to joining Sweeney, Duncan had also spent time tutoring Marketing Fundamentals at Macquarie University.

Cori Hodge

SENIOR RESEARCH CONSULTANT

Cori joined Sweeney in 2013 and brings with him a passion for marketing & a highly technical level of knowledge of contemporary marketing theory & practice. Originating in academia in 2004, Cori developed expertise in advanced quantitative techniques and has applied them in a range of commercial and social marketing challenges, including consumer choice, brand architecture, value propositions, and market segmentation. He has also conducted a wealth of qualitative research which allows him to better understand, design and implement bespoke research solutions for just about any strategic issue.

Cori’s experience spans a diverse array of industries, including financial services, FMCG, telecommunications, pharmaceutical, retail, and the public sector. Having worked with some of Australia’s biggest companies, he is passionate about brand management and his focus is always on providing actionable insights to improve marketing strategy.

Sally Hsueh-Chih Lai

SENIOR RESEARCH CONSULTANT

Sally joined Sweeney Research in Melbourne in 2012, with significant research experience in both academic and consulting environments.

Prior to Sweeney Research, Sally was a post-doctoral researcher at the School of Psychology, University of Queensland, a Senior Consultant at Siggins Miller Consultants, and an Associate Director within the Public Policy Unit at Urbis. Sally has a PhD in Social Psychology (University of Queensland), and has more recently completed a Graduate Certificate in Health Economics (Monash University).

Through her consulting work, she has contributed to the development and evaluation of major national and state and territory initiatives in health and human services (e.g., the development of the National Mental Health Workforce Strategy, the evaluation of the National Drug Strategy: 2004-2009). Sally has considerable experience consulting with a wide range of stakeholders, including government officers, peak bodies, service providers, service users, and members of the general public. She has also consulted with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and communities. Sally has particular expertise in research design, the development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation frameworks, data collection instrument design, and advanced statistical analyses.

Sally’s professional interests include evidence-informed policies and programs, and the application of psychological concepts to understand, predict and change behaviour.

PAs and Office Support

Across Melbourne and Sydney we have a team of twelve staff working in roles supporting our research consultants. We pride ourselves on the quality of our presentations and reports and this comes down to the dedication and inspiration of our PA and office support team.

Qualitative Recruitment

When conducting qualitative research (focus groups, in-depth interviews, workshops) it's imperative to have the right types of people to talk with. It is for this reasons that we have an in-house recruitment team. Headed by Paula Sweeney, our recruitment team manages the entire recruitment process for all of our research conducted across Australia and New Zealand.

Data Analysis

The accuracy and quality of our data is critical. Companies are reliant on our data to make major business decisions and it's got to be spot on, every time. Our DA team is one of the most experienced in the industry and are one of the reasons our data is trusted implicitly by our clients.

Coding

Our coding team works through hundreds of thousands of surveys each year. We are fortunate to have a coding department that is regarded as one of the most efficient and effective in the industry.

Field Work

With hundreds of casual staff working in our call centre and around the country doing face to face interviews, we have a field department that can manage large volumes of work at any one time. Our team of field managers and supervisors ensure everything runs smoothly day and night whenever and wherever we are conducting research on behalf of our clients.

Finance, Accounts & HR

Headed by our Finance Manager, Gerry Sweeney, our accounts department ensures that all of the individual requirements of our clients can be easily and effectively met.

Sweeney Digital

Headed by Benjamin Page, our Digital team offer cutting-edge online and new media solutions for clients. This team is focussed on helping clients engage with our research by building customised interactive reports. The team also works with our qual and quant researchers in the development of applications that leverage the latest technology to create new and interesting ways to collect the thoughts, attitudes and perceptions of consumers.
