About Sweeney - In The Community
We recognise that research is about understanding people. Every day, we're talking with thousands of Australians on behalf of our clients to find out what they're thinking and how they live their lives. Alongside this, we recognise that it's important to be involved in a range of community based and charitable initiatives to support Australians.

The Ian Potter Museum of Art

We have recently sponsored an exhibition at the renowned Ian Potter Museum of Art at The University of Melbourne. Clients and staff will have access to tickets to exhibitions and annually we hold both staff and client functions.

Zac

Zac is the nephew of Tracey Kohinga, one of our Senior Research Consultants. Little Zac was born with severe cerebral palsy which means he can't speak or walk and has extreme difficulty doing the things that we all take for granted.

Zac's needs are numerous and whilst the Government does provide some financial support it fails to fully cover his necessities let alone the additional resources and aids he needs to help him live as normal a life as possible for a child suffering from cerebral palsy. Sweeney Research has committed to raising money to help Zac and the Kohinga family live life to the fullest.

If you would like to hear more about Zac or make a donation, please contact Antoinette Golino at antoinette.golino@sweeneyresearch.com.au

Cancer Council

In 2006, many of our staff took part in the 24 hour Relay for Life, raising funds for the Cancer Council. We were one of the highest fund raisers for the Albert Park event.

Amy Gillett Foundation

We are involved with the Amy Gillett Foundation, providing pro bono research services. The foundation is named after Amy Gillett, a member of the Australian Women's Cycling Team, who was tragically killed training in Germany. The focus of the foundation is on creating a safe riding environment for cyclists.

Oxfam

In 2007 and 2008 we have entered teams in the 100km 48 hour OXFAM walk. Alongside the staff camaraderie (and fitness benefits), the endurance event is also an important fundraiser for OXFAM. In 2007, we raised over $6,000 in Sydney. With our four teams in Melbourne in 2008, we raised over $15,000.

WhiteLion

WhiteLion helps juveniles who have had difficulties with 'the law'. Many of these kids have come from second and third unemployed generations and have encountered physical and sexual abuse. WhiteLion offers a rehabilitation program, mentoring and giving them job opportunities.

Sweeney Research has provided pro bono research as well as some financial support.

Brian Sweeney is also involved in a consultative capacity.

ASIAC

Sweeney Research provides pro bono research on behalf of ASIAC, the largest parent adoption support group in NSW, Australia. ASIAC represents families that have adopted or are in the process of adopting from China, Korea, The Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, India and Hong Kong. ASIAC has been helping adoptive families for over 30 years and is run by current and prospective adoptive families.

Their philosophy is that every child, regardless of colour, race or creed, has the best chance to develop to his or her full potential within a family. ASIAC supports adoption for children in need of families, and is committed to developing community awareness of overseas adoption.

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation logo

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is a not for profit organisation that focuses exclusively on funding medical research to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes and its complications. Type 1 Diabetes is an ‘autoimmune’ disease, which destroys the body’s ability to produce insulin requiring people with Type 1 Diabetes to inject insulin several times a day to survive. This form of diabetes is one of the most common chronic childhood diseases; however, it can occur at any age. The cause of Type 1 Diabetes is not fully understood, but it is believed to require both a genetic predisposition and an environmental trigger.

Sweeney Research is proud to be associated with JDRF through the provision of research services and in this way aid JDRF to achieve its goals.
